Before
joining Tramp Steamer Media as a Senior Writer-Producer, Jim spent
17 years in a variety of management positions for Dow Jones
& Company, publishers of The Wall Street Journal.
Among other roles, he served as Director of Value Added and Exchange
Services for Telerate, Inc., a Dow Jones subsidiary that
delivered real-time price data, news and analysis to financial
market professionals around the world. He oversaw the development
and launch of many online information products and services from
third-party suppliers that were distributed over Telerate's system.
As one of the earliest members of Dow Jones's interactive publishing
group, Jim created the company's first online sports and news
services.
Jim also served as Dow Jones & Company's
Manager of Investor Relations, representing Dow Jones before
Wall Street analysts and institutional investors and producing
the company's annual and quarterly reports.
Jim was an early staff member of ViewData
Corp., a subsidiary of Knight-Ridder Newspapers, Inc.,
which developed one of the first online services for home users:
"Viewtron" was a graphically enhanced interactive service
that debuted to customers in the Miami area in 1980. In addition
to his work at ViewData, Jim was a reporter and editor for the
Miami Herald and United Press International. He
holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from Ohio University.
